Galante

Formed by violinist Luiz Amato and cellist Adriana Holtz, Duo Giardini presents the album GALANTE. Featuring works by the Italian composer Felice Giardini, an exponent of the so-called “galant style”, the album captures the quintessence of this musical movement. The galant style emerged as an evolution from the complex counterpoint of the late Baroque period—already heavily influenced by the Enlightenment—but stands out for its pursuit of simplicity, clarity, and melodic beauty.

Holtz, a cellist with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP) since 1997, brings extensive experience in harmoniously blending classical and popular music, collaborating with artists such as Milton Nascimento and Ceumar. Amato, on the other hand, is an award-winning violinist and professor, having been honored with the APCA prize and served as concertmaster in the São Paulo Municipal Symphony Orchestra, Amazonas Philharmonic, and Jazz Sinfônica.

The selected pieces—Duos 1, 2, and 3—are meticulously structured in three contrasting movements, which simultaneously share immediate accessibility and remarkable emotional depth. The interpretations require technically flawless execution but are elevated through the intimate interaction between the instruments, revealing the idiomatic beauty of the style.
