Luiz Zago is a pianist, composer, and arranger from Curitiba – Brazil, whose work spans the realms of classical music, jazz, and Brazilian music. His artistic approach merges the pathos of classical repertoire with the effervescence of popular music, creating a unique sonic fabric. His numerous collaborations range from the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra, and the Florianópolis Camerata, to luminaries of Brazilian music such as Lenine, Ivan Lins, Toquinho, and Zeca Baleiro.
In his EP “Solitude,” Zago draws inspiration from the complexities of pandemic times, exploring the vicissitudes of isolation, fear, and hope. Highlights include Solitude, featuring a collaboration with cellist Adriana Holtz, which reveals a minimalist and evocative composition that gradually evolves into a melody imbued with tenderness. Valsa Solene, on the other hand, is a piece that intertwines suspense and dynamism, supported by a vigorous and solemn performance.
Zago’s works, characterized by his sensitivity in capturing and expressing deep emotions, resonate with the essence of the human experience. They come to life and gain prominence in this magnificent album, emotionally profound and touching.
